Saucy Short Stories

Sex & the City meets Desperate Housewives

Green has the uncanny ability to make readers care for her characters, delivering plots and narratives that vibrate with an impending sense of danger. The overarching theme makes her prose quite dark, but she always manages to inject a timely element of humour. There’s a powerful element of social commentary that’s expressed not in words, but in emotions that will leave many of her readers deep in thought.

Short stories are a hard art form, and I admire it very much when someone does it masterfully; it is like hearing a beautiful piece of music played. I love Lexie going about her work or tooling around in her car having these crazy sex-escapes. It really is whimsical as well as hot. That, as far as I can tell, is unique to Ms Green’s particular brand of ‘steamy.’ And I love the sly twists at the end.

This book was a fun and sexy ending to a great series. I swear sometimes Lexie reads my mind and as soon as I would think something about a character, Lexie’s little introductions would make a similar comment. These stories were fun and surprising. It’s not just the women that get all the attention either. I’m sad to see it over, but I loved the way it turned out. If you haven’t read the first two, I suggest you start there to get to know these amazing characters.”

Please, Miss Tease: Years of pain. Unbearable torture. Could he recover?
Mark’s chronic condition leaves him at the mercy of those who would torment and belittle him. Could Lexie show him the path to salvation?

Working Girl: One motel room. Two consenting adults. You can guess the rest.
Lying on the bed in a pay-by-the hour motel, Ben wonders what she will have in store for him this time.

Mistress: An empty house. A sexy temptress. Didn’t he deserve some pleasure?

This collection features eight short stories, five novelettes (30-50 minute reads) and a couple of novellas, all linked by the central character, Sexy Lexie. Although reasonably contemporary, they are set in the UK in the Experimental 80’s, when many patriarchal firms were dragging their heels about a woman’s role in the workplace. When they got home, however, women were much more enlightened and willing to take on the freedom of the Swinging 60’s and Psychedelic 70’s. But if reading about Eighties England (with its vintage films, TV shows, music and technology) is not for you, other stories are available. Ditto if you are put off by raunchy scenes of sassy young women in proper pickles.

Warning: Although generally lighthearted, these steamy, office-based shorts with a twist in the tail are not for the faint of heart. Or under-18s. Or people who don’t like their heroines in too much trouble.
